Naveen Jain: a man who is one of the truest examples of rags to riches. Jain is the former founder and CEO of InfoSpace and more recently, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Moon Express as well as CEO and founder of Viome. Growing up in rural India, Naveen developed a unique and visionary outlook on the world, tackling profound projects with pragmatic solutions. In this energized conversation, Naveen’s passion is very evident. Have a look at our three main takeaways from a fun conversation!

Don’t let expectations muddy up the water!

Hope and expectations are two very different things. Expecting good things is just as much of a falsehood and waste of time as expecting something bad. Don’t do anything with the expectation of something positive happening. That’s not to say don’t look to the future at what may or may not happen, but certainly don’t do anything with the attitude that something will surely come of it!

Change your line of questioning!

In a pointed rant about moon travel and colonization, Jain uses an example of the ways the wrong line of questioning can lead us into a sidetracking and ultimately time-wasting direction. When you focus on solving the cause of a problem instead of addressing the symptom, everything becomes easier, but it starts with asking the right questions.

Amplify your respect for respect

Never mind who you like or dislike, get along with or enjoy spending time with. Instead, focus on who you respect. You will look for different things from different people in your life: familiarity from a friend, comfort from a family member etc. But when assessing the people who you will be doing business with or hiring to work for you, give priority to a person that you respect.
